Founded to provide the ultimate social accommodation for the Wessex Band Summer School

Background

The Wessex Camping Committee was established independently many years ago with the vision of providing social interaction for the members, tutors and conductors of the Wessex Band Summer School.

The WCC run a campsite, for 1 week a year, during the week of the Summer School. We invite and encourage members of the course and their families to camp (or caravan) in an environment specifically orientated towards the needs of the members of the course.

The campsite will be situated on the school field of the Sturminster Newton High School.    Map

Showers are open at times convenient to meet rehearsals, and evening entertainment is organised around the course.

Rules of the site

There are many young families who choose to attend the course and also choose to camp at the WCC site. This is one of many reasons why the WCC impose (sensible) rules:

5 mph speed limit

No unlicensed drivers

No electrical items to be used in shower block

No open fires

No vehicles to be moved on or off site between 12pm and 6am

All tents and caravans must be at least 3m apart

No overlapping guy ropes

A bucket of water must be provided by each party outside their unit at all times

In adverse weather conditions, the Wessex Camping Committee reserve the right to restrict vehicle movements on the site and to request gazebos be dismantled.

Wessex Camping committee accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to any person, personal or private property whilst camping on the WCC site.

Dogs are welcome!
